I. Lesson about Disciples
1. They obeyed what the Lord asked them to do – Matt. 14: 22; MK. 6: 35
2. They never expected they will have problems – Matt. 14: 24; MK. 6: 48
Eg: Sr. Angela
3. They are so afraid of the situation – they cannot even identified Jesus, due to the hardship they are really struggling – Matt. 14: 26; MK. 6: 49
4. They cried out – the situation was such serious – Matt. 14: 26; MK. 6: 49
5. He would have passed them by – they were not able to see Jesus with their faith eye – Matt. 14: 26; MK. 6: 49; Gen. 21: 19; 2 King. 6: 17; Psa. 119: 18; Eph. 1: 15- 19
6. Heart was hardened – they had not understood the loaves or the work of the Lord – MK. 6: 52 (only by Mark).
II. Lesson about Saviour
A. God allows us to go through the situation of troubles – Matt. 14: 22
1. Two kinds of Storms:
a. Storms of Correction – when God disciplines us – Eg:- Jonah
b. Storms of Perfection – when God help us to grow – Eg:- Here the diciples need to grow their faith even if Jesus is not with them.
2. Two Kinds of Will:
a. Determinative will
b. Permissive will
B. He saw them – MK. 6: 48; Prov. 15: 3
C. He came to them – in the night – Matt. 14: 25; MK. 6: 48
D. Walking on the sea – unexpected way beyond our thinking, Jere. 33:3 and Talked to them… – Matt. 14: 27; MK. 6: 50
E. He went up to the boat – He Cares for them, love to have closer relationship with Him – Matt. 14: 26 – walked on the water; Jesus would have to say, ‘don’t worry I’m praying’ Matt. 14: 23 – the boat was long distance from the land; MK. 6: 46)
F. He showed His power over nature or over creation– MK. 6: 51
# “I AM” – Matt. 14: 27; MK. 6: 50 and Jn. 6: 20 —– Ex. 3: 14; John says many times, “I AM”.
III. Lesson for us
A. We will have struggles and that too come to us unexpectedly
B. Count the blessings what the Lord has done
C. Remember that He will never leave us and forget us – Heb. 13 : 5
D. Look beyond the situation
E. Open your eyes of faith
F. Jesus interceding for us – the present ministry of Jesus.
